Tomorrow Isn't Going Forward
Sound Installation, two channel speakers, 08:11 Min sound piece 'Tomorrow Isn't Going Forward', Buffering Exhibition, January 2020, Edinburgh College of Art.
This song, also formed from collages of natural, generated and archived sounds, contains an unlistenable poem - whispered backwards over the course of the piece, singing stretched and reversed to become a wail, and a gospel service applause reversed. The sounds of human processes on machinery are overlaid with frogs, rivers and and once again my mother’s clarinet drone and her heavy breath down the instrument. The piece toys with the sounds as metaphors for mental, political, environmental decline, in their reversal rather than progression.
